The band :

Nirmal Bhakti (“pure devotion”) is a group of Switzerland-based Indian music lovers from different cultures and nationalities who perform Indian devotional songs also called Bhajans. A music group that transcends the physical boundaries of country, nationality, religion or race to emerge into the world of universal peace. Peace through music from a country known for its great saints and seers, India. The group was started as early as 1983, though it came to be known as Nirmal Bhakti in the summer 1998.

It has performed in a lot of cultural events, private and public functions in Geneva and the neighbouring cantons, as well as in France and Italy. The music presented in our programmes is traditional Indian Music, such as classical and light classical pieces, bhajans, abhangs, qawwalis, ghazals, hymns and songs, as well as instrumental pieces (sitar, violin and harmonium).

Our group is traditionally accompanied by the harmonium, violin, pakhawaj, dholki, tabla, jalara (bells), chimta and the guitar. From time to time, we also arrange folk dances such as Dandiya Ras.
